Let's talk about Gabourey Sidibe's wardrobe on American Horror Story.

Soooo.... American Horror Story- did anyone watch it last night? Extremely questionable politics aside, I'm feeling like their entire costume department needs to be fired (or possibly set on fire) immediately for the crimes of fashion they have committed against my dear, sweet, beautiful Gabby Sidibe. The rest of the cast looked on point, but they must have dredged the bottom of every Rue 21 sale rack for her character's wardrobe. I mean, seriously- how do these stylists keep doin' Gabby so wrong? It's not 2006 anymore, so you can't say all you could find were some ill-fitting neon novelty tees.
You put my girl in a cold shoulder top and a fedora? For shame.

For anyone who has been following my internets for a while, you probably know that as much as I try to love florals and color, looking like a teen witch mall goth is truly where my heart lies. Luckily for me, "witchy" is a trendy look right now, thanks in no small part to the new season of American Horror Story I'm sure. Rather than being all like "HEY, I DID IT FIRST!" I am instead taking full advantage of the opportunity to stock up on black garb. All the witchy clothes me and the AHS costume department could ever need are but a click away...

ASOS in particular has really knocked it out of the park this month, just in time for Halloween. Last week, they put this AMAZING, super comfy, soft as hell ghost sweater up on the site.

YOU NEED THIS. Get it here: http://bit.ly/GHUUCM
Here are some of my other favorite spooky looks from ASOS this week:

Forever 21 surprisingly has a lot of great options right now, including their recently released line of bat/Batman themed goodies that I admittedly went a little HAM on this week:
And finally, even ModCloth, purveyor of all things twee and adorable, has some great witchy looks! Behold:
So basically what I'm saying is, I don't see what is so hard about dressing Gabby Sidibe. Maybe she likes the horrendous things people keep putting her in? Who am I to judge? But I'm just sayin', if you let me style you Gabby, I can turn it out. Hire me!

  1. What is it about Gabby that renders stylists complete inept at their own job? Are they that freaked out by a fat woman of colour that they do her a disservice all the time? I honestly believe race comes into this.

  3. I freaking love Gabby but the stylists that are working with her are completely inept at dressing her. Come on American Horror Story you have enough money and power in the showbiz world to get someone who knows what they are doing to dress her.

Also your ghost sweater is so freaking adorable!

  5. That ghost sweater is so great but beware- it runs HUGE!!!

  6. There are so many stylists who specialize in plus size women, too! They are literally a Google away. How are you going to spend the money to hire an Oscar nominated actress and then put her in rags? Legitimately infuriating.

  7. Everyone is using rstyle.me lmao I feel so left out!

I'd totally wear those bat glasses. I think i mentioned on instagram how much I love that ASOS sweater!

  11. I love Gabby, she is a powerhouse. And yes her style is bad on the show. She could be rocking some awesome clothes, lets hope the wardrobe department steps it up a bit.

  12. sure, I just applied but if you can invite me that'd be awesome.

  13. Sent! Hopefully the process goes faster if someone refers you?

  14. Let's hope one of her witchy powers is restocking her wardrobe. It was so disappointing to see her sticking out like a sore thumb - stuck in this ho-hum outfit while the other girls were dolled up in super cute dresses.

  15. That ghost sweater is so cute on you and I truly appreciate your extensive pumpkin decorations.

  16. That ghost sweater is so perfect! I see that it runs huge though which is a bit of a bummer for me (I am on the cusp between straight & plus sizes).

I don't have a TV (not in a snooty way, my ex-boyfriend took our TV when he moved out, the bastard) so I don't watch American Horror Story but I AM REALLY MAD ABOUT GABBY. Like, people are GETTING PAID HELLA MONEY to make her look that bad.

  17. I'm so in love with that jumper & i'm hoping it will go one sale sometime in the future because I can't justify buying a jumper when it's just starting summer here! Same goes for shipping on those AMAZING bone leggings!

  18. This is a wonderful post! I felt like the stylists were screwing Gabby in a major way and it really upset me because, like you said, every other girl was on point. I also appreciate the collections you posted from Asos, F21 and ModCloth. I want ALL THE THINGS!!!

  19. I want a referral! I've vaguely heard of it but wasn't sure why I'd sign up before now :)

  22. I know!!!!!!!!!! It's so infuriating to me, and that's why I keep doing these posts- to show how easy it is to find decent clothes for fat ladies nowadays. ESPECIALLY if you have money AND it's your freaking job! Ahhh! Hahah

  23. I bet it will go on sale after Halloween!! I'm just very impatient and I wanted it NOW. Hahah

I get that the clothes that they've put her in are terrible, but if you've seen AHS in the past, you'd know that wardrobe is a HUGE part, and she's probably going to undergo some AMAZING transformation, alas, only time will tell.

  31. I got denied since I don't update enough. =( but I think I was totally unaware of what they even do. I was like..I was just to make slideshows. haha

  32. I am madly in love with all the gothy/witchy stuff coming out lately, especially from ASOS & forever21+ (that ghost sweater is TOO CUTE!!).

I was an episode behind on AHS: Coven, I had already read this post beforeI watched the episode and was suuuuper bummed by her outfits. They really aren't trying at all. At first I was thinking they were trying to establish her background or something, but everyone else is so perfectly dressed, she stands out, not because she's plus size, but because they are putting ZERO effort into what she's wearing.

  33. Say it again! Because it's clear that other plus actresses are styled nicely.
