Neon & Neutral

I have to admit, I haven't been very interested in this space for some time now. I felt I was spinning my wheels here. It seems like there are a million bloggers out there, and it gets really, really hard not to constantly compare yourself and feel like your creative output just isn't good enough. I have high standards for everything in my life (probably too high if we're being honest here), so I'm going to focus on a "less is more" blogging model for the time being. I will only post things that I think are of high quality or of some value to my readers from now on to prevent blogger burnout. No more posting just for the sake of posting!

Dress - ASOS/Bag - 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target (sold out, find it here)/Shoes - Marc by Marc Jacobs (similar)/Necklace - Motherland
Moving on, how sweet is this dress? When I saw it on ASOS awhile back, I knew it needed to be mine. I bought it and saved it for a special occasion, which ended up being the grand opening of Re/Dress. This dress fits like a dream, and who can argue with tulle? The detailing is to die for. Neon on neutral might be a few seasons ago, but when something is this perfect, you kinda have to not give a shit. It's literally the fanciest piece of clothing I have ever owned, and it's on sale now for just $60.51 (down from $151.28 originally)!

This bag was one of the few things I managed to snag from the 3.1 Phillip Lim collection. To the untrained eye it looks expensive, in reality it cost me about $35 and some digging. You can't tell, but these Marc by Marc Jacobs shoes are made out of rainboot material! Army green is my power color this fall, so it's time to bust these cuties out again.
Part of getting back in the game for me is working with professional photographers instead of my boyfriend and an iPhone. These photos were taken by one of my friends, Suzanne of Suzuran Photography here in Cleveland. I adore her! Seriously, check out her work. She is incredible. I feel so lucky to live in Cleveland, where you can basically throw a rock and hit an amazing artist anywhere you go.

But at the end of the day, I truly love blogging and sharing and I am so happy you will continue to share posts with us, even if it's not as often!

I always pass by it when browsing ASOS and it's such a beauty - and looks even more beautiful on you <3

  26. Great pictures Erin! And i love those shoes. I know what you mean about getting burned out and lost in the blogging abyss. I have been trying to take a step back and only blog when I feel like I have something to share.

  27. Ah! The details in this dress. It's kind of magical. What a great buy. I know what you mean, sometimes I'm on fire with energy to blog and then I'll take an unplanned week or two off (with instagram too). I don't like to beat myself up over the breaks because It actually feels awesome to take that time off. I come back feeling energized and excited to post again. Nothing is worse than feeling the pressure to blog. Enjoy your mini breaks!

  29. Oh, gosh, I know exactly what you mean about blogging and high standards and comparing yourself to other bloggers. I'm constantly doing this. I feel like I should just give up most of the time! Anyway, this dress is absolutely beautiful and looks so lovely on you. <3

  31. Hey Erin! I've been following you on Tumblr for a while and I forget that you have this amazing blog! I love your outfit here. Sometimes it's fun to wear something very bold, but other times it feels satisfying to just dress more neutral and simple. I just started my own blog on Blogger after taking a hiatus from it for a year or so. I think it's easy to get caught in the trap of feeling the need to one up yourself or be a posting machine. I know I hold these standards to myself. It feels good to just breathe and remember that quality matters more than quantity!

  32. That dress is awesome! I get what you're saying although for me it's more that I like what I post about, I just worry other people don't. But it's pretty easy to get over because I do love writing about my interests :)

  33. Beautiful dress & photos! I'm getting ready to place my first order with ASOS...does their stuff generally fit true to size? Should I size up or down? Advice?? Thanks, xo

  34. I totally get what you're saying about comparing + blogger burnout. Its been 3 years for me and I just don't have the drive I used to. But for what its worth, I enjoy all of your posts. I think you have an awful lot to provide and really, really look forward to seeing your updates.

I'm also really loving this ensemble, Erin! You look so lovely.

  38. Sorry for my late response! I've found that their stuff generally runs 1-2 sizes large. I can even wear a lot of the stuff from their straight size range because it all runs so big. A lot of it is stretchy too, so keep that in mind! Luckily they have free shipping and returns, should anything not work out. xoxo

  39. Yes, agreed. I think you have to blog for yourself and no one else, and if other people like it, that's great! xo
