3.1 Phillip Lim x Target Collection for plus size bodies.

This is the first time I think I've ever posted from my phone so not sure how this is going to go! I'm updating from a Target dressing room because I wanted you guys to get this info ASAP because this collection is flying off the shelves. Please keep in mind as you read this post: I range in size from 14 to 18. My local Target often does not get in even 25% of the designer collaboration collections, so I'm just reviewing what was available to me. If I'm able to find more pieces later today at a different Target, I will update this post accordingly.
This is the Sparkle sweater. It's oversized, so I was able to purchase a size large. It's got a subtle high low cut and is very soft. The beaded detailing at the neck is a really nice little pop of glitz.
This camo shirt was from the men's section. It's a size large. I love the slim fit and long length on this shirt, definitely plan on wearing it with boyfriend jeans in the very near future.
This knit shirt with chiffon sleeves is a size XL. It fits well in the torso, but the arms are cut extremely slender. I have pretty average sized arms and this was just a little bit too constricting even for me. I passed on it.
This size large button up shirtdress(?) was a disaster on me! The arms were cut generously, but it gapped at the bust and around my stomach. Unfortunately there was not an XL available. Pass.
This peplum shirt was a size XL. It was pretty skin tight, but I thought it was really high quality and well cut. I think my butt is too big for it, if you check the back mirror you'll see. I reluctantly passed on this one.

Based on the fit of the items I tried on in store, I ordered both the leopard print knit dress and sweater off of target.com in a size XL. I will let you guys know how they worked out when they come in. The vast majority of the bags were sold out just one hour after my Target opened, but I managed to snag this taupe crossbody satchel:

I'm very impressed overall with the quality and construction of this collection. Nothing looks cheap, everything seems worth the price to me. I'm glad that a lot of the items seem to be pretty generously cut so that at least some plus size women can get in on the fun. I sincerely hope Target considers expanding the sizing of these collections in the future, because I probably would have spent an entire paycheck on this line if that were the case!

  2. What size are you normally, if you don't mind me asking?

  3. i ordered the leopard print sweater, skirt and dress and the boom & grey sweater dresses. i've heard a lot of people say things run really large which is exciting...but idk. i saw stuff in person at the press pre-launch event and wasn't impressed with a lot of it... and as much as i love the leopard print/pop art stuff, i'm pretty sure i'll be over it in a few months. when the package gets here, i'll try it on and decide if i love it enough to spend $260 on it. for that price, i might return everything and put the money toward an actual phillip lim item...

  5. I ordered the Boom sweatshirt last night in an XL- I range around a 16-18 but I'm 7.5 mos pregnant so it will be for "after" baby- I'm worried the arms will be too tight though. Good review! Thanks for sharing!

  7. everyone is saying that the sleeves on all the pieces are cut way too narrow. such a bummer!

  8. I glanced at the collection when I was at Target today and was mostly attracted to the quality of the handbags. I loved them. Didn't really look at the clothes so this review is helpful! The sparkle sweater is one of my favorites...and I'm glad I just thrifted a camo tee because apparently they are cool! Can't wait to see how you style your new finds!

  9. i dont know if you meant to reply to me or ask erin, but i'm usually a size 18/20. i ordered the items online so i'm not sure whether or not they'll fit well yet...

  10. I tried on the sweater and found it was well made but they only had XL and medium, a large would have fit better. The thickness of the sweater sadly adds bulk :/. I ended up getting the floral button down in XL but am planning on returning it; like you said in some parts I'm swimming in it but then the buttons gape randomly. I was very happy to grab the last satchel in black, it looks and feels really high quality and the pockets inside are perfect! No more crappy H&M bags that fall apart in 6 months! All in all I was a little disappointed in the fit of this line.

  13. I stayed up absurdly late and scored the mustard crossbody, the grey mini satchel, and the leopard dress. I just saw From Rez to the City's post on FB trying on the leopard dress (she said the XL should fit up to a 20), so I think it will work for me. I'm excited to get it. I love that sweater too - great post (even from a phone) :)

  14. Thanks, darlin'! I'm curious how the leopard sweater is going to fit me. I think that was my favorite piece out of the whole collection, so I hope it's okay :(

  15. So jealous! Apparently Target blocked international IP addresses during the launch, so I was unable to buy anything. I was able to see the adorable satchel bags and everything on my Target iPhone app, but couldn't check out. Fun times having an APO/FPO address. I'm glad you got to try some stuff on! I can't wait to see some outfits soon!

  18. I tried on the long flowy shirt dress/ thing too that you tried on above and it was weird. The arms were tight and the shirt was long and wide. Not flattering on any body.
